Picnic Perfect Style, Winchester Where & Wear

Happy Friday followers! Are you as elated as I am about this beautiful sunshine? A good dose of vitamin D really does boost the mood, or maybe it’s all that colour that can finally make it’s way out of my wardrobe and into the world. This week I’ve been so excited I’ve even worn a skirt, twice!

For my Winchester Fashion Week, Where & Wear installment this week I’m taking you all on a picnic, and the good thing is whether you’re from Winchester, down in Cornwall or up in Aberdeen you can ALL join in this one :) It doesn’t matter where you go, the city park down your road, a national park, a babbling brook hidden away in the countryside, just get outside and relax. Make sure you’re topped up with plenty of water, suncream, a frisbee, a newspaper and a delicious picnic hamper of goodies and you’re set for the day.

The best picnic outfit for me is something cool, comfortable and chicthe three C’s of summer! You want to be able to jump around, lounge luxuriously, cross you’re legs without embarrassing exposures and reflect those rays like a true Sun Goddess. Go soft fabrics, go neutral tones, go loose fits and go pretty seperates. To see how I’ve styled these sumptuous Cameo Shorts from New Look (only £17.99 *happy face*) head on over to Winchester Fashion Week Blog…

You can now check out all my outfit suggestions over on my Pinterest board ‘What to Wear‘ too…

Zara Best Under £30, a birthday edit

I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend? I’ve been elongating my birthday as much as possible and stretching my celebrations over the whole weekend as usual… but more of that later.

For now, in celebration of receiving a £30 Zara voucher from my boss for my birthday, I have compiled a Best Under £30 edit of all the wonderfulness of Zara. You guys (and my boss) remember how much I LOVE Zara right? The only problem now being that I only have one £30 voucher. WHAT TO CHOOSE?…

Let me know your favourites :) Oh, and I have maybe included a sneaky £39.99 skirt, because I couldn’t resist, it may be top of my list.

Polly And The Billets Doux for Winchester Fashion Week

Happy Friday friends! Another Friday brings another Winchester Where & Wear from me over at Winchester Fashion Week Blog. This week, being my birthday week an all, I’m taking you to another gig. This time at The Discovery Centre, otherwise known as The Library. Because that’s where all the bests gigs are played right?

Polly And The Billets Doux are a great local band who are currently touring the UK with their Hold Fast tour. You can check out their folky, bluesy, souly sound and hear one of the most amazing voices I’ve ever had the pleasure to hear live over at their website www.pollyandthebilletsdoux.co.uk or come join me tomorrow night in Winchester :)

And if you fancy going shopping then I’ve created a perfect outfit for such an ocasion from Winchester High Street’s finest and including this jazzy little Jack Wills number.

Sanity Saturday

Hi friends,

Happy sunny weekend, I hope it is sunny where you are! The last few weeks feel like they have been pretty hectic for me… but that kind of good hectic that comes from being busy with fun and exciting things. Winchester Fashion Week articles have been written, bike rides have been had, bedrooms have been decorated and generally things have gotten done. Joy!

Here’s mainly what’s been keeping me sane:

1. My new Pashley and beautiful bike rides in the country

2. Bargain new buys from Warehouse and H! for Henry Holland at Debenhams

3. My newly painted bedroom

4. Broadwalk Empire, we’re catching up with LOVEfilm and loving it

5. Pretty pastel nails courtesy of the lovely Sarah of SLB Style

I hope there’s plenty keeping you sane this week x

Normality Style Crush – Emily Blunt

There’s something about sharing a name with someone. It’s something inexplicable that feels almost palpable when you meet them, in that small connection you share. There’s a sort of nod of knowing that happens between two people who meet and discover they share a name, in a way that says, “yes, I understand you and I am on your side”. A feeling like they will not hurt you and are immediately a friend.

Emily was a popular name when I was growing up. Fortunately, I was the only one in my Primary School class, which avoided any jealousy, but there were two Emily’s a few years above me. As a young girl I immediately thought they were the nicest, coolest, prettiest and most intelligent girls in my school and I made particular effort to be their friends. Fortunately for me, they were in fact very nice and didn’t mind a goofy, over-confident kid, three years their junior hanging around them in the playground. But from a very young age I always noticed that there were no Emily’s on television. No actress’s, no pop stars, no character’s in the movies (and I’d like to mention now that Emily from Bagpuss was unknown to me at this time) and I always wondered why.

Queue my fellow generation of Emily’s growing up and one has made quite an impact on the entertainments industry and on me particularly. Emily Blunt. She could wear a bin liner and I’d still look up to her (and she’d probably still look gorgeous) but fortunately she is effortlessly stylish and firmly not only one of my favourite actresses, but also a huge style crush of mine. According to my May issue of Elle Magazine she is also incredibly funny to boot. If she were to knock on my door right now I’d be liable to say “I love you Emily, can you please be my friend?” and also “That’s weird, why are you in Bishops Waltham?” as she ran away thinking what bad luck she had had to knock on the door of a crazy. I couldn’t help myself.

I have to say that Emily did a sterling job looking f.a.b.u.l.o.u.s at yesterdays Met Gala in Calvin Klein and has previously wowed in Dolce & Gabbana and Michael Kors on the red carpets – not to mention her recent amazing cover photo for Elle – but it’s her everyday laid back luxe kind of style that I love most.

The good news is that her style is quite easy to recreate. The bad news is we won’t all look as glamorous as Emily Blunt if we wear it, the girl has natural beauty… but I’m still going to try.

Birthday Self Indulgence

So, it’s that time of year again. May, is birthday time for me. As such, and as usual I have a birthday wishlist as long as my arm. This year, here’s how it goes…

1. My latest jewellery range lust by Estella Bartlett

2. Gorgeous Whistles scarf

3. Face mask, something luxurious for in the bath. This Decelor is topping my list

4. Champers and/or beautiful illustrations (image courtesy of Vintage Luxe, Pinterest)

5. A huge bunch of fragrant flowers (image courtesy of LibertyLondonGirl, Instagram)

6. Oasis Minty Jeans

7. Breakfast in bed

8. Babyliss Big Hair

9. Music – Band Of Skulls, Jack White & Rufus Wainright

But the best thing about this birthday is my friends. We’re all having lunch. Not glamorous per-say but absolutely the most exciting part for me. Cheers girls, I can’t wait!

Em x
